Getting Started

Motorcycle club based in Vancouver looking to run a very simple website with a nodebb forum (again, a small community of less than 200 members). Does it matter performance-wise if I select Toronto or San Francisco for our server region?

  • I know this was posted over 5 years ago, but it honestly depends. If you prefer your data hosted on Canadian soil, so with TOR1. Otherwise, go with SFO :)

Hello @webmaster91d299,

San Francisco would have better Latency.

I suggest to ask them the check the speed and latency with the help of those two links, provided by DigitalOcean. Depending on the results, select the location with the lowest latency (Ping).

To speedtest the Toronto server:
http://speedtest-tor1.digitalocean.com/

To spedtest the San Franciso server:
http://speedtest-sfo1.digitalocean.com/

Geraner

Thank you very much for your help :)

Hi. You can use this command line tool to test latency from you to all DO regions
