updating Ubuntu 13.10 Wordpress one-click install

 • Posted April 6, 2014

when i SSH into my VPS, it tells me 62 packages can be updated, 32 updates are security updates. I can’t for the life of me figure out why sudo apt-get update isn’t working. It just shows me a long list like this:

Ign saucy-backports/multiverse Translation-en_US Ign saucy-backports/restricted Translation-en_US Ign saucy-backports/universe Translation-en_US

then says Reading package lists…done

Any ideas?

apt-get update updates the package index only. It doesn’t actually install/upgrade any packages at all.

You need to run apt-get upgrade to upgrade the packages (after running apt-get update).

Oh, sry… you use One click Wordpress install. You need to open ticket support to Digital Ocean.

Ign? I never see that “Ign” repository :

“Ign” saucy-backports/multiverse Translation-en_US
“Ign” saucy-backports/restricted Translation-en_US
“Ign” saucy-backports/universe Translation-en_US

For security reason I use Official Repository only and some Apps repository that I trust, and I think DO have a good support for ubuntu mirror source repository as default.

If you lose your original source repository you can generate through this link:
