Question

Upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04 now site returns error 404 nginx/1.10.3 (Ubuntu)

Not sure what I need to do but I got no errors on the upgrade and now my site just says error 404

The first step should be to check your Nginx error log in /var/log/nginx/error.log as it will usually provide additional information on the error encountered.

My guess is that during the update if you were asked whether to use the maintainers version of your Nginx configuration which would have removed your configuration. Check your configuration file in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled and make sure it is pointed to the directory where your app or site is located.
