Hi I want to know if there are instructions to upgrade php 7.0 to php 7.1

I found some articles but they all point to this repository which I don't know how trustworthy it is.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/php
sudo apt-get update

Is there a 'trusted official' way of doing this?

Thanks!

That link also shows you how to upgrade from 7.0 and 7.1 to 7.2 as well - which is what the latest version of Laravel is based on!

Its super simple, and only takes 2 minutes to do!

  • I get this, any thoughts?

    on adding the PPA:
gpg: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc5 in position 92: ordinal not in range(128)

    and apt-get update:
W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net/ondrej/php/ubuntu xenial InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 4F4EA0AAE5267A6C
W: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/ondrej/php/ubuntu xenial InRelease' is not signed.
N: Data from such a repository can't be authenticated and is therefore potentially dangerous to use.
