Question

Upgrading to multi core

When I upgrade to a multi-core (from 1 vCPU to 2 vCPU) do I need to upgrade anything (besides my code) to take advantage of 2 vCPU?

If I simply resized my droplet without a brand new Ubuntu install, if my python single thread non asyncIO script ran on 1 vCPU writing data to PostgreSQL before, do I need to upgrade anything in order to take advantage of 2 vCPU? i.e. PostgreSQL probably execute on the second vCPU as my main data analysis script will use up 1 vCPU?

Thanks!

Hi @driftinggreenblueship,

You won’t have to update anything, this should be done automatically.

Additionally, I’m not sure how you’ve configured your python script to use only one core but generally, unless you have a very valid reason for it use only one core I’ll recommend against it.

All in all, after you upgrade your Droplet, everything should start utilizing both your CPUs.
