Question

Using lib folder with digitalocean functions

Created a project using following command: doctl serverless init --language js example-project

I am following this link to use the lib into my digitalocean functions https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/functions/reference/build-process/#lib-references

The deployment is successful, but when calling the function getting error: function can’t be initialized and I have boiled it down that if I use functions from lib/ it causes the error.

  • The code is working fine with node.js import

Hi there,

Is your function by any chance open-source? If so can you share a link to your GitHub repository so I could look into this further?

I think that it is possible that you might need a build.sh file within the lib directory along with a package.json file in order for this to work as expected. Can you confirm if you have that in place already?

First, the build process performs a library build. Libraries are built if there is one of the following files in the project:

  • lib/build.sh (macOS and Linux builds only)
  • lib/build.cmd (local Windows builds only)
  • lib/package.json

Best,

Bobby
