Varnish, Nginx, Node.js, Stunnel with multiple sites

Posted on February 18, 2014

What is the best way to configure a server (Ubuntu) that can run a node.js / nginx combo (static files get served by nginx and everything else goes to node) which is also behind varnish and uses stunnel (for https and also secure websockets wss://) oh and of course able to have multiple sites.

Thanks for any advice!

Reverse Proxies on nginx is what you’re looking for. I have successfuly configured a server running a Node.js application (Ghost) and some PHP websites (Wordpress) by serving node.js to a socket and using a reverse proxy with nginx.
