I have to say.......singing up for DO was a total disaster. Fix you workflow. Asking for my ID, the sending in my ID the asking for another "USA Identification" screams a totally untrained offshore support center. Two hours dealing with support and still noting being able to sign up with a Bank of America CC? Are you kidding me? Have courtesy and stop wasting peoples time. There is now way DO can handle a HA stack if one can even sign up. Maybee for a small blog but wow...trying to compare to lindode or aws.........give me a break...................... Really.........totally bad service

Then per the below...they told me to add a photo as an attachment and then now I cant add a photo. Then I am asked to use the below service? I mean come on.......are you kidding me? So...its clear that you are cheaper because DO has the lowest bidder for tech support.

Get gets worse.

Really...the expectation that the ID of an address must match the address of my business?

Again....the stupidity never ends.......This is so bad I will have to make a dedicated blog.

It does appear that you may have your credit card under another address.

Please double check the address on the card and use that one, it looks like it's not the Hawaii address.

You can try it once, and if it doesn't work, respond to this ticket and we'll double check the reason for decline.

Now I get its because I did not enter my address correct. I think, after 15+ of entering the address of my biz I would get it correct. Called my bank..not problem with my card. I know my address. The rest of the world has no problems charging my card. I have a merchant account for my biz. Whew! Thank god I dont have this problem
Never had any such issue, but I'm seriously surprised and somewhat disappointed that DO support should ask prospective clients to upload their identification documents to a PUBLIC photo-sharing site like imgur. Really?
@george: Imgur isn't a public photo-sharing site by default. Only those with the URL can access the image.
If you choose to submit your image to the gallery, it will be displayed on the front page. By default, it will be private/unlisted.

As a developer of an app that crawls imgur for available and hidden images, please refrain from using imgur to upload any personally identifiable information. Also..



This old question seems to be receiving some attention today, so I wanted to provide an update. To be clear, DigitalOcean does not ask anyone to upload scans of their IDs to imgur.

Occasionally we ask customers who have set off our abuse filters to verify their accounts. This is done by emailing us scans of their ID. We agree that asking anyone for ID isn't an ideal situation, but unfortunately we deal with a large amount of abusive and fraudulent signups. The vast majority of customers will never need to provide any ID.

We point customers to - simply switch off posting to the frontpage when you post your webcam capture and just give them link from there.

It's an easy WebRTC Photo (high res) and GIF capture (240p) in one which is nice for ID'ing customers holding ID passport or whatever. After the ID, simply delete the capture.
