Question

VNC Viewer will not connect, "connection actively refused"

When I try to run my TightVNC viewer I get an error saying the server actively refused the connection. I also tried to add the VNCserver to my defaults on the linux server and it told me that the VNCserver script was missing LSB tags and overrides. I am using an HP Proliant DL360 G5 running Ubuntu Server 15.04. I can get into the server easily enough using Putty CLI, but I want a GUI for one particular job.

any help is appreciated

correct. vnc4server can be installed on your server with:

sudo apt-get install vnc4server

then launch your vnc instance with:

vncserver

then connect to your server with this:

your.servers.ip.address:1
