Web hosting and e-mail

Posted on September 4, 2013

Hi I would like to host multiple WP sites on a VPS and I found one of tutorials on how to do that. Excellent. However, I would like to keep e-mail management (e-mail accounts and forwarding) on my DNS provider and use the digital ocean VPS for web hosting only. Is there a way to do that? For example, if I switch the DNS servers on my provider to digital ocean, I can no longer have them manage e-mails.

Thanks

Cool, thank you very much!

“Is there a way to do that?”

Yes. First, decide where you want to manage your DNS records. If you want to use DigitalOcean’s DNS Manager, simply copy your current
MX
record(s) into D.O.'s DNS control panel.

If you want to keep your DNS records where they’re at, simply leave your
MX
records as they are and only add the necessary
A
and
CNAME
records pointing to your DigitalOcean droplet(s).
