Web site disappeared after graphite install

I had a Wordpress site up, running on ubuntu 8 months, and followed the instructions for additional Graphite installation exactly. The web site has disappeared, giving the error (below) in the web browser. I have run apachectl -S and apachectl -t with no error flags.

Any idea what I should look at here? I opened a support ticket, and the response was merely a copy/paste. No one bothered to look at the situation. Thinking about just FTPing all my pages off of here, and opening support with another service. Got to say, I’m disappointed.

Did you review the error log? By default on Ubuntu the Apache error log can be found in /var/log/apache2/error.log a 500 error usually is the result of a script error or permissions problem.

Can you also provide some clarification on Graphite? There is more than one product that goes by this name. Was this the monitoring tool, a wordpress plugin or something else?

Are you running Ubuntu 14.04 or 16.04? Note that between these releases Ubuntu switched from PHP 5.x to PHP 7.x which could cause issues with scripts not written to support the version you’re using.
