What are the minimum requirements for a container?

Posted on November 13, 2019

Hi. Just want to clarify my ideas.

  1. To create a docker container, I need a droplet, right?
  2. Can I have multiple containers within a droplet?
  3. If so, what are the minimum resources a container requires (CPU and RAM) ?4. Such requirements are configurables ?
  4. I know that it depends on the system needs but, How Can I know how many containers can I have within a droplet?

Sorry for my English.

Thanks for your quick answer. Ok. A container has its own resources or share with other containers? If resources are shared, it means that if one container consumes all resources, the other containers will be unavailable, Right?

Hi @cluis13915,

Yes, it’s possible to have multiple docker containers on your droplet!

As for the resources, it varies depending on what you are going to deploy on the containers. I would recommend starting with the smallest droplet available and updating it if needed. I’m fairly certain the smallest one won’t suit your needs however it’s better to try and test it out before jumping to a bigger droplet. The good thing is, you can always upgrade!
