What happens if I reset my root DO password while still configured w/ ServerPilot?

Hi there -

I’m running a basically vanilla install of Wordpress one click install - Ubuntu 16.04.4 x64 I have everything configured through ServerPilot, which basically manages all of my db administration and such. Right now, I’m dealing with an issue where I need to do some debugging to figure out why my mail server isn’t working as intended, and will need to access the DO console directly.

I do not remember the root password. Stupid mistake, I know, trust me. The articles I’ve read indicate that resetting the root password is pretty straightforward - just going to the admin area with DO and turning off the droplet and resetting the password - my question though, is once I turn off my droplet, can I turn it back on again instantly? Does anyone have experience with using DO w/ ServerPilot, and know if I will screw anything up if I reset the root password while still connected to serverpilot?

Thanks in advance!

@magicmagicmagic ServerPilot uses the root password one time to connect your server. There won’t be any issues resetting the password manually on Digitalocean Dashboard.

Clicking Reset Root Password on your Droplet page will immediately shut down your Droplet and set a new root password and then power on your Droplet automatically. It doesn’t require manual shutdown and startup.
