Hi there @epikouros,

You don’t need the IP addresses for those. In your GoDaddy control panel, you’ll just want to update the nameservers for your domain to point to the DigitalOcean NS subdomains:

  • ns1.digitalocean.com
  • ns2.digitalocean.com
  • ns3.digitalocean.com

We have a great tutorial that covers this: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-point-to-digitalocean-nameservers-from-common-domain-registrars#registrar-godaddy

Hope that helps!
- Matt.

DNS is the naming system that is used to bind a domain name to a web server. In this guide, we will change the nameservers for a domain that we have registered and point it to a DigitalOcean Droplet.
  • Hi Matt, thanks for getting back to me. In the past, it used to be as you say, now it’s mandatory to include the IP address when switching NS records from their standard ones to another. The tutorial shows the old way godaddy did DNS.

    • Hm. That seems really odd. I can’t find anything about this even in their own help articles. Could you share a screenshot of the error you’re seeing that’s asking for IP addresses instead of a subdomain?
