what's the different btween conf.d and sites-* ?

using nginx there's a config file in my conf.d dir called , and my blog runs well. but when i add a virtual host file in sites-* dir point to a .html file, i did it like the steps in this webpage: ( i type , the browser also show me my blog site . i deleted the default file both in conf.d and sites-* could you help me . i am a novice

You can't use both conf.d and sites-enabled, you can put your virtualhost in either conf.d or sites-enabled, not both.
thanks, but is there any difference between conf.d and sites-enabled ?
