There's no need to install Ruby on Rails if your goal is to get WordPress up and running on top of Nginx. Though it is needed if you want to use Capistrano to deploy your local development version to your remote VPS.

This tutorial will show you how to get WordPress, MySql, and Nginx set up quickly:

How To Install WordPress with Nginx on Ubuntu 14.04

It may be simpler to just connect to your droplet over SFTP (using something like Putty if you're on Windows) to upload your local WordPress files. Capistrano is only needed if you want to set up an automatic deployment process. Let us know how it goes!

WordPress is the most popular CMS (content management system) in the world. It can be used to get your site or blog off the ground quickly and it provides a nice interface for adding content and modifying the site's design. In this guide, we'll walk through how to install WordPress on Ubuntu 14.04 with an Nginx web server.
  • So the difference between Nginx and Capistrano is that the Capistrano is automatic deployment?

    So what is best option?

Coz my main problem is that:

    1. Working on localhost
    2. After I have to move all my files and database to our subdomain show to client
    3. Make some changes on subdomain
    4. Download website from subdomain
    5. Move the the website from my pc to live server to client

This is really annoying. I need something fast.

Like working on localhost and pull all changes to subdomain or after to live server.

And want to use Git with Bitbucket as well.

So whats you suggestions ? I am really newbie in this.

  • Nginx and Capistrano are two very different thing. Nginx is a webserver like Apache. Capistrano is a deployment tool written in Ruby to deploy applications to remote servers. Capistrano is optional, a webserver is not. It sounds like you are looking for a deployment solution, so you might want to install it.

You might want to check out capistrano-wp

  • so what about roots and bedrock ? they are using capistrano as well. So do I haveto to use capistrano-wp ? http://roots.io/

  • So after research.

    1. installed LEMP on my VM

    2. now want to use bedrock ansible with bedrock stack

can you help me more or give some tutorial how to deploy from localhost to my virtual machine ? thanks

  • can you help somebody ?

  • is here somebody to help ?
