Ubuntu WordPress Getting Started

I added two wordpress apps to my server but when I ssh to root@myip I can’t see their files anywhere although the wordpress sites are up and fully functioning.

I followed some guides and checked in ‘var’ but there was no 'www’ directory. I installed apache2 (not sure if this was the right thing to do or not?) and and the www directory was created containing one index.html file. However it doesn’t display an other wordpress files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is running on an Ubuntu 64 droplet.

I’m a complete noob so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
If you used the ‘one-click Wordpress’ installation on creation of your droplet at DO, the default directory of your website will be /var/www/html.
But it looks like you are using serverpilot since you say you created multiple apps. So if you use serverpilot, your wordpress website will be located at /srv/users/serverpilot/$appname

  • Eventually figured it out yesterday, but yeah, you’re right. Thanks for the help.

    EDIT: Oh and for people reading this, don’t install Apache2 if you are using server pilot.

    • Good you figure it out. No problem.
      Yes indeed, when you manage your server and apps with serverpilot do not login with SSH or SFTP to install other software. Serverpilot will handle all of this itself;
      It is using nginx with a customized vhost configuration and php-fpm for smooth php apps.

      Also do NOT edit anything inside the nginx VHOST configurations if you do not know what exactly you are doing. I’ve had to edit multiple things inside of it, I knew what I was doing however sometimes you can cause alot of trouble betweeen serverpilot and your server.

      • Thank you its a long recovery but i’ll make it.

        so.. i entered the nano code for creating .htaccess and turns out it was there just hidden…
        had some wordfence jargon that i thought may be the problem and i left everything but what you wrote and it saved i checked and logging back in still getting this php:

        hopefully this sheds some light i can’t make heads or tails of it..
