Storage

I have a photo archive website. I would like to save it in cloud hosting. I can’t decide which plan have to use. Does Digital Ocean has data storage plans for large amount of data like 1TB? Lower cost would be benefit for me to run long term for the site.

Hello all,

You can definitely take advantage of our block storage technology. Block storage volumes are network-based block devices that provide additional data storage for Droplets. You can move them between Droplets and resize them at any time.

Use cases: Volumes are most useful when you need more storage space but don’t need the additional processing power or memory that a larger Droplet would provide, like:

  • As the document root or media upload directory for a web server
  • To house database files for a database server
  • As a target location for backups
  • As expanded storage for personal file hosting platforms like ownCloud
  • As components for building more advanced storage solutions, like RAID arrays
  • Performance: Like Droplets, volumes are backed by SSDs.

By default, users can create up to 100 volumes and up to a total of 16 TiB of disk space per region. You can contact our support team to request an increase. You can attach a maximum of 7 volumes to any one node or Droplet, and this limit cannot be changed.

Regards,
Alex
