Which product do I need?

Hi,

I just joined DO and I have no idea about which of the products you are offering is suitable for me :(

I am looking to develop a simple web app with a back-end server created in GO or Python (Flask/Django) and a simple front-end site created with js, html and css. I will need some DB functionality, such as mongodb etc.

So nothing advanced, actually, this will be mostly an open-source learning project.

Could you please help me pick up the product suits my purpose best?

You could start with a single droplet and the entry level (1GB / 1CPU) and scale it up as needed in the future.

    Thank you for your answer! Will the “droplet” solution let me setup and run my web-app? Do I get ssh access to a droplet? Sorry, I am new to DO and the terminology is a bit new to me. Before, I had a hosting with DreamHost, and there I was able to ssh into my allocated area and was able to configure my server settings and environments etc.

      Yes - a “droplet” is just DigitalOceans terminology for server. The server you setup is a full VPS with root access.

      When you create your first droplet, you will be asked what size you would like, what region, what OS etc…

      Once done if you chose to have it setup with an SSH key you will be able to shell in right away, or a root password will be emailed to you.
