Which version of Django does DigitalOcean use now? Can I choose?

Hi all,

I'mdeveloping an app in Django. Currently it runs on my laptop.

I am looking for a place to host the app for my clients and am considering Digital Ocean for this.

However, I can’t find anywhere which the Django version is used by the 1-click Django application (could be my fault).

Somebody knows? I need to make sure that the version on my laptop matches the server (else I will upgrade on my laptop).

Digital Ocean, come on, this info is so basic, it should be very clear in the stack specs!

The Django One-Click image currently uses the default version of Django provided with Ubuntu 14.04 which is the 1.6.x series with backported security patches. This decision was made in order to make sure our users continuously receive security updates. While we could use virtualenv to install a more recent version on the image itself, users would need to manually update it to get newer releases. Using the Ubuntu packaged version, users receive stable backported security fixes when they update the rest of their system packages.

We’ve seen some interested in providing Django 1.7, and we will continue to evaluate the trade offs involved. Though currently, we believe that the ease of receiving security updates outweighs the benefits of having a newer release.
