Why can't I log in to my droplets via ssh with the default generated password?

Posted on September 21, 2017

This is extremely simple. I have created about 20 Droplets on Digital Ocean. I get emailed default passwords for the Droplets. In my console I enter ssh admin@ip and then when prompted for my password I enter the password that was emailed to me. I never get asked to create a new password, re enter this password or anything like that. It just prints Permission denied, please try again.

This is fucking enraging. This is the most simple task i can think of and it isn’t working. I have tried it on different computers and different DigitalOcean accounts and it’s just the same problem. Does anyone have any idea why the most basic services being provided by digial ocean are failing to work at all? I am very close to moving to an alternative service, one that presumably can handle basic login and access to my servers.

admin is certainly not the username, it is root…
