Why does the Apache2 Debian Default Page show up despite Nginx installment?

I followed the instructions for installing nginx, but when checking the result at http://myip, it shows the “Apache2 Debian Default Page” instead of the default Nginx landing page. Is that normal? In the tutorial, it says it should show the default Nginx landing.

Hello, @terezasokol

You can check which service is listening on port 80 on your droplet. Also, are you planning to use Nginx alongside Apache?

To check the service on port 80 you can use the netstat command:

netstat -tulpn | grep 80

This should return Apache, you can then stop the Apache service and also disable it and you can also change the port in the Apache configuration file.

Additionally, you can make sure that Nginx is configured to listen on ports 80 and 443.

Hope that this helps! Regards, Alex
