Question

Why is Digital Ocean showing in my router, connecting to a PS4?

I was looking in my router logs, trying to figure out why certain services are effected while others are not. I have no idea what DigitalOcean is, let alone why it is now starting to connect to a PS4 on my network. One thing I have noticed is that I have a lot of logs showing:

52430, Monday, March 13, 2017 17:49:08 [LAN access from remote] from 46.101.248.80:57247 to 192.168.1.19:80, Monday, March 13, 2017 17:24:15

The IP address it is connected to is my PS4. These appear to all come from:

Web Host Digital Ocean, Inc. Domain Name worker-03-09b-f-29.stretchoid.com IP Address 46.101.248.80 IP Location Frankfurt am Main (Westend-Süd), Hesse (DE)

My question is, why? The PS4 was not even on when this occurred.

stretchoid.com is constantly trying to hack my email, I’m filing yet another abuse report with Digital Ocean.

Check out https://twitter.com/geeknik/status/833763452590104577?lang=en This stretchoid.com customer has many VPS. It could be someone has created a VPN service on Digital Ocean.

DigitalOcean is a virtual server hosting company.

So if someone has setup a virtual server and using it as a VPN-server, then their IP-address is will show up as DigitalOcean. But it could also be that someone has setup a server that scans the internet for active services.

There can be many reasons why you’re seeing a DigitalOcean IP-address, but it’s not coming directly from the company.

Does that makes sense? If not, just reply with your questions.
