my account is locked. i’ve had to provide all my social media log ins and send pictures with my id. is this company legit? or do i need to worry that my identity has just been stolen?

It happens when “something” trips their fraud detection. Yes, they’re legitimate, and no, they’re not stealing your identity. In my experience, DigitalOcean is easier than many other companies, but your mileage may vary.
