Why is my IP redirecting to a domain?

October 20, 2016 119 views
Nginx Ubuntu 16.04

I used to have the domain cirrostratusco.com, hosted at Rackspace.

My new IP at Digital Ocean, 104.131.153.79, is redirecting to cirrostratusco.com even though that's not an entry in my Nginx setup, my domain list or even a domain I own.

I've grepped over the entire machine for references to cirrostratuso.com, and the only references I can find are in the logs of failed access to cirrostratusco.com

What's the output of grep -i "cirrostratuso" /etc/ -R

  • There's no output / no matches

    • It's no longer redirecting to your domain right now.

      • It is where I'm accessing the internet. I'll contact the folks that control DNS where I'm at and go from there.

        • It has nothing to do with DNS, you're accessing the IP directly.
