Why is my /var/www empty?

I’m struggling with a Wordpress website on my Droplet - my /var/www/html folder is empty when I SFTP with a client.

The website is fine and loading as normal…What am I doing wrong? Where are the files?!

Hi, I would look in your server config (nginx, openlightspeed or apache, what are you using?) and see where your www-directory is.

Check if its still empty if you ssh into it. Maybe your stfp user doesn’t have the right read permissions.

Yes you’re right - permission denied. Is there a beginners guide to setting permissions for this user you could point me towards?

  Check out chmod or adding the sftp user to the www-data group with usermod should also work.
