Question

Wordpress 1 click Install and Domain Name

I am unsure whether I need to transfer the domain name before the wordpress 1 click install. It asks me for the domain name and I do not want to mess it up. I need some advice.

Hello there,

To use a domain name instead of the IP address of your Droplet, follow the steps in How To Set Up a Host Name with DigitalOcean or set up a domain name with your own DNS provider. Either way, you connect your domain name to your WordPress Droplet, once it resolves using DNS, you will need to update the WordPress configuration to use the domain.

We have a tutorial that covers the process of How To Use the WordPress One-Click Install on DigitalOcean which you can check here:

Hi @bubblybluefish,

You can point your Domain to your Droplet. So no need to transfer anything, only adjust your DNS, point your root A record and www Record to your Droplet and you are good to go.
