Question

wordpress Connection to Managed Database fails

i have a very strange issue, migrating Managed Database with Wordpress.

i can connect locally on the server just fine to the database, but wordpress trows and error, saying it can;t connect.

i changed the host:port usernames and passwords accordingly, and i’m able to connect wht the same credentials using the command line client.

anyone having some idea how to debug this?

Hi there,

As you are able to connect from your server to the Managed MySQL database cluster, this indicates that the problem is not related to the trusted sources.

In this case, it is most likely the problem is related to the password encryption. What I would recommend here is to create a new user with mysql_native_password and use it in your wp-config.php file.

You can follow the steps on how to do that here:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/databases/mysql/how-to/manage-users-and-databases/#password-encryption

Let me know how it goes!

Also as a side note, here is a step by step tutorial on how to use WordPress with a Managed MySQL cluster:

Best,

Bobby
