Wordpress htaccess authentication

Does anyone know how or where to find the username and password that Digital Ocean uses as security for a new Wordpress install?

The following directions say that the instructions to find the password are in the .htaccess file and also the /root/WORDPRESS file. I use Filezilla and I am able to locate both files but there is nothing in the htaccess and the root Wordpress file will not open. Am I missing something?

SSH into your droplet and you should see /root/WORDPRESS’s contents: How To Log Into Your Droplet with PuTTY (for windows users) | DigitalOcean.

and the root Wordpress file will not open

Can you post the exact error that you’re getting? What user are you connected as?

PuTTY is an open-source SSH and Telnet client for Windows. It allows you to securely connect to remote servers from a local Windows computer. This tutorial will cover how to connect to your Droplet from your local Windows computer using PuTTY.

After you connect to your FTP, go to SERVER and select FORCE SHOWING HIDDEN FILES. This should allow you to see the .htaccess file.
