WordPress Email

Hello, I need some directions, please. I have a web server successfully running on Ubuntu 14.04. LAMP is properly configured. Everything works flawless. Recently, I decided to try Wordpress. I manually installed Wordpress 5.0.3. Everything is working just fine, except for the fact that I tryed to change the admin e-mail in Wordpress and it says I’ll receive a confirmation e-mail, which never arrives. I’m confused. I have no mail server. What is happening exactly and what are the next steps I should take?

  • I’m having the same issue, and I think I’ve narrowed it down after some hours of playing around. If I am logged in, I never get an email, even if I try to reset the password. However, the PHP emailer is working because anonymous comments do send emails. Also, I get notified when others create new accounts. That is the extent of it, though. What is also strange is that I can use the mail command to send email, but sendmail (from postfix) never does. Do you see the same thing?

Hello,

I would recommend using an SMTP plugin like Easy WP SMTP. This would allow you to specify an SMTP server like Gmail, that way your Wordpress emails would be sent through Gmail’s SMTP server rather than just plain PHP mail.

This would also increase the delivery rate of your emails in general.

Hope that this helps!

Bobby
