Wordpress Menu Item Limit

November 10, 2014 3.6k views

I have my running website up and everything was going smoothly until I hit a max menu item limit. I have been scouring the web for the past week to remedy this issue without any luck so far. I have tried the following.

Edit /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini by changing maxinputvars from 1000 to 3000 or 5000. Restart apache

Create a new php.ini and put in wp-admin folder.

Change maxinputvars = 3000
uploadmaxfilesize = 70M;
postmaxsize = 128M;
uploadtmpdir = 70M;
maxinputvars = 3000;
memory_limit = 256M;

edit .httaccess by adding
<IfModule mod_php5.c>
phpvalue maxinput_vars 5000

None of these have working for me. I am using the ubuntu 4 wordpress image - there must be something server-side that truely controlling the maxinputvars.

Thoughts, suggestions?

  • I have already touched upon all these articles believe it or not and tried all suggested fixes. I find this very weird as everyone who resolves this problem contacts their host and they have fixed it without informing anyone what was actually done.

    php.ini in my main directory did not work either. I even try to change the values via SSH but they are all already changed to the proper values. I am at an utter loss on this one.
