Wordpress SMTP failure - loads 60 seconds

Posted on August 8, 2017

I’m using wordpress with Digitalocean server and domain is from NameCheap. About week ago my wordpress stopped sending contact form submits to my email. Before that it worked fine. If I fill the contact form then the website loads about 60 or 90 seconds and then shows error … - try again later. Now I tried many email providers to with my website stmp (mail.com, NameCheap, Gmail) and same story with all of them

What could be the problem and how to fix this?

Hello,

I would recommend checking the answer here on some possible solutions regarding the same issue:

What I could suggest here is using an SMTP plugin for your WordPress site.

That way you will be able to specify an SMTP server with authentication which your emails would be going through. You could for example use SendGrid’s SMTP service. This would drastically increase the delivery rate of your emails as well compared to using plain PHP mail.

I’ve been using this plugin for a while now and it works very well: Easy WP SMTP.
