Question

wrong password for windows under linux

I always have a problem, showing wrong password for the window under linux. But I am sure I set the password correctly and tried a few times. I also tried to reset the password. It showed the system will send me the new password by email. I never received.

Heya, @d41a6af7dc4643cda79d5e114a7a04

I’ll also suggest to check the keyboard layouts, as I’ve been in such situation on the past where the solution was an easy fix, but it took some time to get to it.

Let us know how it goes!

Hi there,

Can you share a bit more information about your exact setup? Are you running Windows on your Droplet or is it a local instance that you are referring to?

Besides that here are a few things that you could usually try when having issues with password resets:

  1. Make sure that there are no typos and that your keyboard layout is the same on both systems.

  2. Sometimes, keyboard layout differences between Linux and Windows can cause incorrect password entries. Make sure the keyboard layout is set correctly on both systems.

  3. Make sure the password reset email isn’t in your spam/junk folder.

  4. Try using the recovery console here: https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/droplets/how-to/recovery/recovery-console/

If you’re still not able to reset your password and not receiving the email, contact the DigitalOCean support team for further assistance.

Best,

Bobby

Heya @d41a6af7dc4643cda79d5e114a7a04,

Can you please give a little bit more info, from your question it seems like you are using Windows as an OS is that correct? Or is it something else?
