TLDR;
Creating a www CNAME in DO fails to resolve.
Context
- I have a static site deployed at
example.com - I have a different static site deployed at
subdomain.example.com - Domain registrar is GoDaddy
- Domain is managed by DO
The Problem
I simply want to create www CNAME records for both example.com and subdomain.example.com so each domain can be accessed with the www prefix.
Here is a screenshot of my DNS records as shown in DO:
However, after saving these records (and waiting well over 72 hours) I receive the following CloudFlare error for both domains:
Solution?
From tutorials online, this seems like a straightforward task so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I have tried:
- Following tutorials online
- Tweaking my DNS records in a variety of ways
- Waiting more than 3 days to ensure the system had time to resolve
Can you spot any problems in my DNS records attached?

Your DNS records look correct! Have you also added your www version to your App Platform as an extra domain name?
The error that you are getting indicates that this might not be the case. Let me know how it goes once you’ve added the www version as an additional domain to your app:
