Happy New Year and Black History Month! Last year was one of growth for DigitalOcean. We inaugurated a new Australian data center (SYD1), our storage and App platform are faster, and DOKS introduced another uptime SLA. Our much anticipated serverless offering, DigitalOcean Functions, allows for higher developer productivity and lower operating costs. We also connected with builders at our annual deploy conference, and more. Check out the latest updates and enhancements below.
Object storage now executes up to 800 total operations per second!
Newer Spaces buckets now have an improved limit of 800 total operations per second. To check whether a bucket has this new limit, see our Spaces rate limits.
Block storage increased up to 50% and object storage is up to 100% faster
We introduced a major performance boost to DigitalOcean Storage. DigitalOcean Volumes input-output operations per second (IOPS) and throughput increased up to ~50% supporting rapid block storage operations. Spaces Requests Per Second (RPS) has doubled, expanding up to 1500 requests per IP address per second.
New SYD1 Sydney, Australia data center expands our global footprint
We launched the Sydney, Australia (SYD1) datacenter region and you can now deploy Droplets, managed databases, and other products in our expanding global reach.
Fedora 37 is now available
The Fedora 37 (fedora-37-x64) base image is now available in the control panel and via the API. This quickstart helps you create snapshots of Droplets and Volumes you can save and access images on-demand.
The 3rd Gen of DigitalOcean Premium Droplets with AMD EPYC processors
The 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors (code name Milan) are available in our Premium AMD Droplet plans. The new Droplets are powered by 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors, superfast PCIe Gen 4 storage, and high-speed 100 GbE networking for top performance.
While customers can’t select their specific processors, many Premium AMD Droplets created in the SFO3, SGP1, FRA1, and NYC1 data centers already run on 3rd gen AMD EPYCTM processors as we continue to deploy them.
DigitalOcean Kubernetes (DOKS)
Migrate any DOKS cluster to the new control plane and add HA
We are excited to announce that you can migrate any DOKS cluster to the new control plane and enable High Availability. If you created a cluster prior to June 2022, you might be on an older control plane. Upgrade now to take advantage of the new features.
Free, Standard, and Premium support lifts start-ups
At DigitalOcean we are committed to serving every customer. That’s why we offer a choice between Free, Standard, and Premium support plans. The new Standard and Premium plans ensure fast responses by dedicated experts through additional channels like video calls. Customers can get an architecture review, custom onboarding, help with products, and other personalized assistance.
Introducing the Developer Center
The new DigitalOcean Developer Center aims to help developers of all skill levels learn, upskill, scale, and get in front of their audiences faster using DigitalOcean products and popular open-source technology.
Meet PyDO, DigitalOcean’s official Python API client
We are thrilled to introduce PyDO, DigitalOcean’s Python API client library. PyDO allows Python developers to interact with and manage their DigitalOcean account resources through a Python abstraction layer. Fully supported and maintained by DigitalOcean, PyDO is now available to install.
Instant OSS global communication with Mastodon
Mastodon Droplet 1-Click is open-source software that provides a microblogging platform akin to others like Twitter. However, instead of being centralized, it is a federated network. Learn how to host your own Mastodon on Kubernetes in our Developer center.
Our Solutions Experts are available to assist you with custom setups, migration, and pricing.
Happy coding!
