Question

Any Vulnerability scanner?

Posted October 2, 2014 3.1k views

My server was used for a botnet attack. My first attempt to fix this problem was updating my ubuntu and zpanel.
Is there any updated vulnerability scanner that I could use to find the point of entry?
Thanks.

  • I am not sure, but if I am using any control panel, I would try to turn on the firewall and open only those ports suggested by the control panel docs..

In case of zPanel, there is a documentation guide showing you block all ports in IP table apart from those which are required for zPanel and website operation !!

Hi Nicogon,

I have been using a tool/scanner called rkhunter with good results for a couple of years, there are proberly much more advanced one out there, but rkhunter helped me out a few times for sure.

You can find more information about it here:
http://rkhunter.sourceforge.net

Edit: It may also be worth taking a look at these:

• clamscan
• maldet
• chkrootkit

Good luck!
