Cloudflare cant connect to LEMP WordPress droplet

Posted on February 7, 2018

I have a domain registered through Google Domains at aaronstone.io. I have a wordpress site installed at http://165.227.182.40/ that I have successfully installed WordPress. I want to route my site through CloudFlare and have added the CloudFlare NS records to my domain on Google Domains. In cloudflare I have: A aaronstone.io points to 165.227.182.40 CNAME www is an alias of aaronstone.io

but accessing my site, I get a cloudflare error that my server is not responding, when I can access it fine at the ip. Is this a server configuration issue? I followed this guide: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-wordpress-with-lemp-on-ubuntu-16-04

EDIT: CloudFlare shows my status as active.

I have found out the issue is that my nginx configuration is not listening to port 443.
