Hi, I’m new to DigitalOcean. I want to migrate from proxmox vms, and so I create .vmdk files from proxmox backups.
I uploaded into Space (making the link public) and then I Upload the image using a Spaces link, the image is created ok.
But when creating a Droplet using this Image, all seems ok, but I can’t see and volume created from this image, I open the console and the vm it waiting for a disk to boot.
What I’m missing?
(I tried uploading usim .qcow2 format, but the same problem)

Hi,
Did you meet all DO requirements for custom image (filesystem, cloud-init installed, etc.) ? Here is an official DO doc:
https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/custom-images/

  • I had problems installing cloud-init in this vm I was trying to migrate to DO.
So, I don’t run cloud-init, the virtual hard drive in the Droplet won’t boot?
(btw thanks for you quick response)

    • System should try to boot, anyway. Cloud-init starts working later, during booting. Do you get any particular message in the console, or it is just blank ?

You can try to troubleshoot this issue with recovery console. In DO control panel go to your droplet settings, choose Recovery, then Boot from Recovery ISO, go to Access and launch console. You can try to mount your disk and reinstall boot loader there.
What is your distro and a boot loader ?
