Data transfer quota with a number of Droplets

I noticed that with the lowest Droplet, 1TB of transfer is available. The details say that is shared among all Droplets on your account.

So my question is what occurs when we have Droplets of different sizes. For example, if I have two 1vCPU + 1 GB RAM and one 2vCPU + 4 GB RAM, how is the 1TB and 4TB data transfer quota shared?

Thanks.

Hi there @astrochun,

As covered in our Bandwidth Billing docs, bandwidth is accrued at the account level and is shared between all your Droplets. As such, if you have two and one isn’t using much at all, the other can use the “extra” bandwidth from the Droplet not consuming much.

Transfer allowance is pooled cumulatively at the account level, not individually at the Droplet level. For example, if you run two Droplets for a full month, each with 1,000 GiB/month allowance, you accrue a 2,000 GiB allowance.

As such, if you had one Droplet that gave 1Tb of bandwidth and another that gave 4Tb of bandwidth, your account would have a total bandwidth quota of 5Tb, which any of your Droplets could consume part, or all, of.

Hope that helps! - Matt.

I’m not sure why my reply was flagged. Anyway, thank you Matt!
