Default digitalocean redirect page index file accidently deleted

Posted on June 21, 2020

Hello. I’m setting up files through a new domain name and I can’t be sure if my re-direct is working. I’ve accidentally deleted the /var/www/html/index.php file in my root var/www/html/ directory and don’t get the digitalocean shark but a forbidden error. Is there any way I could get the default index.php file for this page back in my var/www/html/ folder?

Hi there @sub359,

In most cases, if you delete a file in Linux with rm, you can not recover the file unless you have a backup.

As this is a default file, what you could do is spin up a new Droplet from the Marketplace using the exact image and copy the file from there.

Hope that this helps! Regards, Bobby
