Default Wordpress credentials.

I installed my WP but can’t remember my credentials. I tried to send the link for resetting pass but it does not work. It states invalid key.

are there any default username and password?


do you have access to the database (via phpmyadmin)

if so, you can go to the wp-users table, find your user, and change the password to:


your password will then be 1234

That will get you into wordpress and you can update your password to something better.

You can easily recover your WordPress password by accessing the admin area login page and click the “Lost your password?” link. You can then enter either your Username or Email Address to receive the new password.

The “invalid key” error is indicative of some sort of cache/cookies issue. Try clearing them to see if it helps resolve your problem.

If that doesn’t work, your only choice is to reset it in the MySQL database. You can do it in PHPMyAdmin, just make sure the password is MD5’d before submitting it.

You can also do it in the MySQL command line, if you don’t have PHPMyAdmin installed.
