Digital Ocean, Unblock my account.

Posted on September 3, 2018

This is almost a week that I just created a new account and paid using the paypal account that I used to create my first account on DO. But immediately they deducted my funds from my paypal, they blocked my account and asked for verification. I have given all details they requested for and even more but they seem to have stopped responding to me and my account is not yet unblocked.

I am a web developer and I have a couple of clients that I create websites for. Each client want their own account only their droplet on it. It does not seem right to have too many droplets on one account with each droplet belonging to a different client. What if they asked for the login details and discover that it’s not only their website that is on that account, It makes it look like you are cheating them or is it a sin to have multiple accounts on DO?

I was using Linode just fine until a friend of mine suggested I try DO. This is my first encounter almost a week after creating my first account on DO and I am having this devastating experience. I have already lost a major client because of this and yet DO is still giving deaf ears to my issue.

I have decided to bring this to the community so that everyone will see what DO is doing to me. Please I want my money refunded or transfered to my first account if this will not be resolved.

I was doing just fine on linode, let me just go back there if this is how your services work (blocking accounts anyhow) please.

Hey friend!

What you are looking for is a feature that we call teams. You can read a bit more about it here: https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/accounts/teams/

You can create a team, manage it, and invite someone else to have their own account to log in to that team. They will not see your personal account or any other teams that you have.

As @vpsfix touched on, we manually review new accounts in certain cases. There are a lot of people out there who wish to use cloud platforms for malicious intent, and this negatively impacts your quality of service by impacting things like hypervisor performance, IP reputation (more than just RBLs), etc. We will use feedback like yours to continually work on improving that process. We have unlocked your account at this time.
