DigitalOcean managed Postgres out of memory

I am using managed Postgres, version 15. I have the cheapest instance, with 1 CPU, 1GB RAM and 10 GB space. I have a small database (aprox 25 tables), so the resources should be enough.

However, even when not using the database (not querying or inserting), the disk usage continues to go up. I suspect that the logging might be an issue… from the API I’ve set the temp_log_size property to a small size, still no success.

Does anybody know what I can do? I don’t think that it is possible to access the configuration file directly. Thanks a lot.

Hi there,

I recently answered a similar question here.

I could suggest trying to narrow down which database and tables are using most of the disk space. You could use the following queries:

  • Check the size of a specific database:
SELECT pg_size_pretty(pg_database_size('defaultdb'));
  • Check the size of a specific table:
SELECT pg_size_pretty( pg_total_relation_size('table_name_here') );

Let me know how it goes!
