My question is towards the DigitalOcean Marketplace instances and how much involvement DO has in management after deployment. Does DO run their own updates of the Droplets and the installed services?

Once a customer boots a 1-Click App, we’re not making any updates to the OS or anything on top of the OS.
Some of our Marketplace vendors (e.g. Plesk) do make updates to the Droplet, and some of those updates may be to their app and also to related OS packages.

Thank you @johngannon. I am aware Plesk does update the system on its own which is not so much my worry. The concern I had was possible breaking changes like a for example 16.04 to 18.04 and on respectively.
Ah, OK. Yeah, we would not upgrade the OS. That would be up to you to do.
