Domain not working

Posted on June 7, 2017

HI, I have changed the name servers on the name registrar to the digitalocean’s nameservers.

I have set up an A record in the control panel using @ directing to the droplet but this doesn’t work. It has been over 24 hours.

The website on droplet is up and running and works perfectly fine if I add the following line to my /etc/hosts file:

138.197.1.138 compasmen.com

But if I remove this line from my hosts file it stops working immediately. When trying to do nslookup compasmen.com I’m getting:

nslookup compasmen.com Server: 172.25.24.2 Address: 172.25.24.2#53

** server can’t find compasmen.com: NXDOMAIN

Could you please advise how to make it work?

what about setting an A up for https?

@jtittle I double and triple checked the name servers at my domain registars as well as domain settings in networking section on digitalocean. Everything looks right, and yet it doesn’t work.

Hi @petrovolexandr

It seems like your domain is inactive/deactivated. When I search the WhoIs register, your domain says it’s using the three DigitalOcean name servers. But when I look up DNS details for your domain - dig compasmen.com NS - I’m not getting any information at all. Which registrar are you using?
