EC2 Ubuntu Instance - Does it automatically take mysql backups?

Does anyone know a way to retrieve a myslq backup in an Ubuntu EC2’instance?

I would greatly appreciate it, as I accidentally deleted the current mysql

Are you referring to AWS EC2 instances or DigitaloOcean Droplets?

In case that you are referring to the DigitalOcean Droplets, by default backups are disabled, you have to enable your backups either during the Droplet creation or after that. For more information you could take a look at the official documentation here:
