Gmail Not Working after DNS change via Digital Ocean

Posted on November 18, 2014

I recently changed my Godaddy DNS to point to Digital Oceans, my domain works fine.

But now my gmail for the domain has stopped recieving emails, tested via sending myself an email.

TL;DR

Updated Godaddy DNS to digital oceans name servers

Gmail no longer receives email to admin@customdomain.com

Does anyone know why this is? Is there any other records I need to change?

Thanks

If you pointed your nameservers to DigitalOcean you will also need to add the gmail MX records.

In DO DNS Control panel click to edit your domain. Click Add Record. Click MX. I think DO has a shortcut to create the proper google mx records. If not you need to find them and create them manually.

Make sure you set the MX records correctly for your domain. Since you hid the domain name (why?), I wasn’t able to verify if this was done, but it’s one of the most likely things if the rest of your domain works fine.
