Has any consideration been put into local package mirrors?

With private networking options now available on droplets, it would be super convenient to be able to configure package repositories to use a local package mirrors instead of external ones. It would also allow me to keep my server up to date without having to sacrifice valuable bandwidth.

Local package mirrors are currently available in the New York 2 and Amsterdam 2. We hope to roll them out further in the future.

The DO images for Debian 7 point to mirrors.digitalocean.com, which, at least on my instances in fra1, ams2, and ams3 means pulling packages from New York over the public Internet.
