How do I know if I'm charged monthly or hourly?

Posted on March 30, 2020

Hello there,

I wonder how does it work exactly. Is the amount charged monthly if I let the droplet on (I understand I’d have to destroy it if I don’t want to be charged) for the whole month? Or do I have to set it up somewhere for it to generate an invoice for the month pre-paid?..

Regards

Hi @danfelbm,

DigitalOcean charges by the hour for all droplets. The cost per hour is dependent on the hardware tier you select when creating a droplet and whether you decide to add the backup option enabled. Also please note that at minimum $0.01 is charged even if you use the lowest tier for even a minute as that’s the lowest that can be billed for.

As for the payment itself, it’s done on a monthly basis. You can read a bit more here - https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/accounts/billing/
