How do I make my site accessible for activating plugins within WordPress?

Posted on December 7, 2014

I am making progress with my Droplet, mostly from Tutorials from this site. Server is running and even WordPress is up;( I can send mail, download plugins, etc) from within WordPress… I’ve gained some knowledge about ssh ans LAMP is all fine now.

I am stuck with the issue of activating some of my plugins from their remote servers.

Below is Jet Pack’s message

“Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site…”

Is this a firewall issue? How can I fix this problem for all plugins?

Thanks all for the help thus far.

This appears to be a fairly common issue with this plugin as outlined here. The issue appears to be that the remote service cannot reach the xmlrpc.php script on your site.
